The Marco Firebaugh Mariachi Mentorship Program

Plaza de la Raza has formally renaming its very successful Mariachi Mentorship Program in honor of the late California Assemblyman (50th) Marco Antonio Firebaugh. The Latino Alliance, founded by Mr. Firebaugh to support Latino community resources, awarded a grant to Plaza de la Raza to support its' educational programs, in particular the battery of professionally mentored mariachi music classes that has resulted in a number of students becoming trained, working musicians.

"The Marco Firebaugh Mariachi Mentorship Program is a : community response to Marco's memory and good work, and is a reminder of how important cultural education is to our youth."
