Plaza de la Raza Seeks One Summer Intern

Plaza de la Raza is looking to hire one paid summer college intern for our School of the Performing and Visual Arts (SPVA).

The School of the Performing and Visual Arts intern will work with the staff of the SPVA on programming and our annual summer arts camp, but the focus will be in assisting the faculty and staff in organizing the annual student art exhibit and events related to the exhibit. The intern will also work with faculty as a classroom teaching artist assistant and will work with administrative staff in development and communications duties like updating our social media and website.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this internship, applicants must:

  • Be of a group underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent;

  • Be currently enrolled undergraduates. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 2017. Students graduating in May or June 2017 are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)

  • Reside or attend college in Los Angeles County; and

  • Be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

The internship is a full-time (40 hours/week) position, with a stipend of $5,000, for a consecutive ten-week work period between June and August 2017. 

Plaza de la Raza is a community based cultural arts center located in Lincoln Heights, serving the surrounding Latino community and greater Los Angeles area with performing and visual arts programs and activities. Additionally, the School for the Performing and Visual Arts serves over 4,100 children each year through its extensive after school programming.
