About the Artist

Dolores Guerrero attended CSULA, UC,Davis and UCLA in the 1970’s majoring in Painting/Printmaking and Design. Ms. Guerrero has exhibited and taught workshops in both screen printing and art throughout the United States and Mexico. Her exhibitions include The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Herbert Humphrey Museum at Cornell University, also in New York, The Hammer Museum in West Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Los Angeles to name a few. Many universities and museum have collected Ms. Guerrero’s art work as part of their permanent collection and she is depicted in many books such as “Triumphs of Our Communities, Four Decades of Mexican American Art” by the Smithsonian Institute, and “Rising Voices”, a video presentation as well as a book by Nestles Inc., in which her life as an artist is depicted. In 1993, Ms. Guerrero was recognized and awarded, as one of five women, whom were selected as women of the year entitled “Women Among Us”, a video special. In 2012 she was also part of another KCET special called “Departures, Painting on the Wall, Artist of Highland Park”. Ms. Guerrero has been an artist-in-resident to many art institutions across the United States doing lectures and workshop such as Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Austin. She has also done many murals in Los Angeles County from San Fernando Valley to Pasadena. The largest mural is located in the cafeteria at Eagle Rock High School entitled “History of the Americas” and a tile mosaic at Nightingale Middle School, which she attended.
