La Resistencia at the Boathouse Gallery, August 1-22, 2025

Plaza de la Raza Cultural Center is proud to host Mercado Pa La Raza an opening event, kicking off La Resistencia, a special exhibition at Plaza de la Raza’s Boathouse Gallery.

Curated by Adrian Vialobos-Cabral, La Resistencia includes the work of 15 Los Angeles-based artists, opening August 1, and on view at the Boathouse through August 22, 2025. La Resistencia is a celebration of life, culture, power and resistance as the caretakers of this land of our peoples' story.

Both event and exhibit have been organized as a fundraiser for families impacted by raids, Mercado Pa La Raza will open the exhibition with special afternoon of vendors, performing arts including DJs, poetry, mariachi and dance. The event will include an open mic dedicated to spoken word and testimonials where community is invited to express what they are feeling on stage.

Featuring Artwork by: Evanelly Aguilar, Alejandra Avalos, Brittany Bravo, Rebeca Castillo, Joesefina Chavez, Maria Evelyn, Thalia Goechez, Brooke Kamile, Gabriel Lopez, Alberto Lule, Josiah O’Balles, Antonio Pelayo, Isaac Pelayo, Steve Pineda and Adrian Villalobos-Cabral.

La Resistencia will include visual media and framed pieces for sale. A special run of 20 flash prints will be created for sale ($20 for each artist). The proceeds from the sale of art will benefit local families through the work of three organizations:
